Love others as we love ourselves

Salam..to all, this is a real situation in my University (IIUM) that sometimes our thoughts seemed to be right but to others, it turned out to be wrong. It also happens when we thought that we were doing the right thing, but others regard it as wrong. This is true situation happen in the University as we do not understand each other well. As a result of disputes and dissatisfactions arose resulting to anger. This is what we called narrow-mindedness. Some people intend to have prejudice towards others. They judge certain people just by looking at their appearance and decide to treat them badly.

Why does this happen? For example; prejudice that exist among Malaysian and international students. It could be clearly seen when a student wearing traditional Arabic garment passes a student wearing modern clothes. How about when we but food in cafeteria? We never greet each other. Why is there silence between them? Why don’t we greet others with “Salam” as taught by our beloved prophet? Where is the word “Thank you” that was taught by our mom when we were small? Why don’t we smile when we know that it is the simplest way to give sadaqah as encouraged by our university as well? Have they faded away? Where is the spirit of brotherhood?

Thus, let us bring our ego down and build back the marvelous bond between us by starting to smile, say Salam and practice to say thank you. Avid anger because it is triggered by Syaitan. Try to sort out things one by one whenever there is a problem. Remember, we all are in one community in this International Islamic University where considered as Islamic environment, so let us create an Islamic area as much as possible. It is like a small Islamic country here. How will the Muslim survive if there is no bond between them? Forget nationality, forget race, and forget our skin color. Let us start building an ever-strong brotherhood among us and spread widely. By doing this, Islam will grow stronger.
